לפפתו כחזזית

לָפַף(cmp. לְפֵי) to cling to, to clasp. Tanḥ. Bhar 3 (ref. to וילפת, Ruth 3:8) לְפָפַתּוֹ she clasped him; Ruth R. to l. c. לפפתו כחזזית (some ed. לפתתו), v. חֲזָזִית. Pi. לִפֵּף 1) same. Bekh.41a (interpret. יַלֻּפֶת) שמְלַפֶּפֶת והולכתוכ׳ it continues to cling (to the body) to the day of death, v. supra. Sot.3b (play on ילפתו, Job 6:18) מְלַפַּפְתּוֹ והולכת לפניווכ׳ (sin) clings to him and goes before him on the day of judgment. 2) to wrap, swathe.
